DINING ROOM TABLE GLOW UP

My old dining table needed a bit of a glow up to match in with the new dining chairs. It's a laminate oak table so needs slightly different treatment to a solid wood table to make sure the wax doesn't end up peeling off later down the line. See below how I painted and lime waxed my dining table to create a more modern look.
THINGS YOU WILL NEED
Liming wax
Paint - is used Frenchic Blackjack and Dazzle Me mixed together
Sand paper
Small Roller
Paint brush
Lint free cloth
HOW TO
First sand down the table legs and clean. This is to create a surface for your paint to grab onto.
If needed for your paint, use a primer and then paint with your top coat. Use a roller to get a better finish. I used Frenchic Blackjack, but I wanted a more charcoal look to match the dining chair legs so I also mixed in Dazle Me from a tester pot. Just do a bit at a time, mix and then see if it is right.
Leave to dry between coats following the manufacturers instrructions.
This is where it gets a bit different. When using liming wax on a real wood table, you use a wire brush or wire wool to open up the wood. This won't work with laminate. What you need to do here is sand back a little bit of the top layer off my hand. Don't use a sander as it will take too much off. Just use 120 grit sand paper and make sure you go in the direction of the grain. DO NOT go against the grain or in circles.
Do a tester patch first on a underneath side of the table. My table extends so I used the middle section. Doing a tester patch also gives you an idea of how many coats you will need. I decided one was enough for my desired look after doing a second coat and it being too white compared to the dining chairs.
Once happy, sand the entire dining table top.
Clean off all that dust.
Leave to fully dry.
Apply the wax, once again following the grain.
Allow to dry for a few mins.
Buff up the wax and remove any excess. It should shine in the light. In the video below you can see how the wax starts to gleam in the light.
Repeat steps 9 to 11 if you want more coats.
Leave to dry a little bit and then set the table.
Be careful for the next month as it takes wax and paint a long time to fully set - it may be dry but it is still prone to chipping during this time.
